As the graph illustrates, BrakeTurbines don't cut the temperature of
the friction material in half, but they do provide a substantial decrease
in temperature. This decrease, when combined with the expulsion of
gasses from the drum chamber is enough to increase brake torque by up to
18%. This decrease also has a major impact on brake wear, as you can
see below. |

Testing - Wear
The chart below estimates brake wear using the temperature differences
from independent testing and standard wear charts. As the chart
shows when brakes get hot they have significantly higher brake wear than
in their optimal temperature range. Even though the temperature
difference may only be a hundred degrees the brake wear can be double. |
